Project Description:

The Exclusion Children Mapping Research project is a comprehensive initiative undertaken as part of Save the Children’s global campaign on “Every Last Child,” with a focus on Indonesia and Tanzania. The project aims to conduct both quantitative and qualitative research to map the extent and nature of exclusion faced by children in these countries. The research serves as a preliminary step towards informing Save the Children’s Country Strategic Plan for 2019-2021 and guiding advocacy efforts to address the needs of excluded children.

Key Objectives:

Data Collection and Analysis: Collect all relevant statistical data related to children in Indonesia, focusing on key thematic issues including child education, protection, health and nutrition, poverty, and governance. Utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather comprehensive insights into the challenges faced by excluded children.

Development of Mapping Portal: Develop and maintain the Excluded Children Mapping Portal using advanced data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or VBA Dashboard. The portal serves as a centralized platform for storing, analyzing, and visualizing the collected data, enabling stakeholders to access and interpret key findings easily.

Research and Analysis: Conduct rigorous research and analytical projects, employing inferential statistical approaches to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations within the data. Apply both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to provide a holistic understanding of exclusion dynamics and their impact on children’s well-being.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document the project process, methodologies, and findings to facilitate future replications of the research model. Develop research reports and other data-driven resources in accessible and comprehensible formats for dissemination to key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations working with excluded children.

The Exclusion Children Mapping Research project aims to:

  • Provide evidence-based insights to inform Save the Children’s advocacy efforts and strategic planning processes.
  • Raise awareness about the challenges faced by excluded children and advocate for policy changes and interventions to address their needs.
  • Strengthen collaboration and coordination among stakeholders working towards the goal of ensuring every child’s rights and well-being are protected.
  • Empower communities and civil society organizations with the knowledge and resources needed to advocate for the rights of excluded children and drive positive change at local and national levels.
